This Week In Trailers: Hardcore Henry, Batman V Superman, Ghostbusters

Welcome to the trailer park! This week: we get the last of Batman v Superman, Hardcore Henry ramps things up and Ghostbusters doesn’t show us much at all.

Batman v Superman

The final trailer is here! Finally.

Synopsis:
“Fearing the actions of Superman are left unchecked, Batman takes on Superman, while the world wrestles with what kind of a hero it really needs. With Batman and Superman fighting each other, a new threat, Doomsday, is created by Lex Luthor. It’s up to Superman and Batman to set aside their differences along with Wonder Woman to stop Lex Luthor and Doomsday from destroying Metropolis.”

Hardcore Henry

Our favourite FPS shooter film has a new trailer, and it’s hardcore.

Synopsis:
“Strap in. Hardcore Henry is one of the most unflinchingly original wild-rides to hit the big screen in a long time: You remember nothing. Mainly because you’ve just been brought back from the dead by your wife (Haley Bennett). She tells you that your name is Henry. Five minutes later, you are being shot at, your wife has been kidnapped, and you should probably go get her back. Who’s got her? His name’s Akan (Danila Kozlovsky); he’s a powerful warlord with an army of mercenaries, and a plan for world domination. You’re also in an unfamiliar city of Moscow, and everyone wants you dead. If you can survive the insanity, and solve the mystery, you might just discover your purpose and the truth behind your identity. Good luck, Henry. You’re likely going to need it…”

Ghostbusters

Is anyone else sick of trailers for trailers?

Synopsis:
“The upcoming Ghostbusters movie, directed by Paul Feig, will star Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones as the new Ghostbusters.”

Amityville: The Awakening

Oh Amityville. The original, while campy, was a classic, while the remake was terrible. I’m guessing the new movie will be the same.

Synopsis:
“In the film, Belle and her family move into a new house, but when strange phenomena begin to occur in the house, Belle begins to suspect her Mother isn’t telling her everything and soon realizes they just moved into the infamous Amityville house. ”

10 Cloverfield Lane

Creepier and creepier…

Synopsis:
“The majority of the movie takes place in an underground cellar, and revolves around a young woman who wakes up in the cellar after a severe car accident and fears she has been abducted. Her captor, a doomsday prepper, tells her he saved her life and that there has been a terrible chemical attack that has left the outside uninhabitable. She does not know what to believe and as tensions rise, she decides she must escape, regardless of the terrors that await outside.”

Zero Days

A new documentary about real life cyber warfare.

Synopsis:
“In his new film, Oscar-winning documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney explores the phenomenon of Stuxnet, a self-replicating computer virus discovered in 2010 by international IT experts. Evidently commissioned by the US and Israeli governments, this malware was designed to specifically sabotage Iran’s nuclear programme. However, the complex computer worm ended up not only infecting its intended target but also spreading uncontrollably… Insiders chronicle the development of a programme code-named ‘Olympic Games’ – a malware which can paralyse the infrastructure of entire states in a split second without leaving any trace of those responsible. This story of a source code that caused severe damage outside cyberspace becomes a cautionary tale about the dangers of unfettered technologies and uncontrolled political power.”

Equals

Equals is a new sci-fi indie with a heavy focus on romance, in a world where emotion has been eradicated.

Synopsis:
“Equals takes place in a utopian society where violence and crime have been virtually eradicated — via the genetic elimination of human emotion. Peope like Nia (Kristen Stewart) and Silas (Nicholas Hoult) live calm, uneventful, drone-like lives. The two work alongside each other in a large office, creating informational publications and exchanging the occasional pleasantry. Life is simple, until a rumour starts to circulate: a disease has broken out, one that causes people to manifest emotions. If discovered by the powers that be, the “infected” are sent away, never to return.”

Identicals

Get an Identical to upgrade your life! Sounds great, right?

Synopsis:
“The organization Brand New-U identifies networks of Identicals—people who walk like you, talk like you, but are walking through different, better lives—and helps their customers make a life upgrade: eliminating the better-life donor, and relocating their client to that brand new life. Slater seems to have the perfect life, the perfect job and the perfect girlfriend. But when Slater’s girlfriend is abducted by Brand New-U, and a corpse left in her place, he is forced to become an Identical. As he moves through a series of parallel lives, he becomes more and more obsessed with finding his girlfriend, but what he must find in the end is himself.”

Midnight Special

It’s already a great year for imaginative sci-fi films.

Synopsis:

“A father (Michael Shannon) and son go on the run after learning his child possesses special powers.”
