Here’s Every Single Oscar Award Winner For Visual Effects

Video: The 2016 Oscars have some of the staunchest VFX competition in the award show’s history. (Either Star Wars or Mad Max better win, I swear to God.) But the entire 87-year history of silver screen special effects is equally stunning.

The folks from Burger Fiction compiled every recipient of the award into one 9-minute-long spectacle. Strangely, you learn some interesting things about cinema along the way. Like if you made a movie in the ’40s and ’50s that had water, planes and/or space, you were likely a VFX shoe-in. Check it out:

Here are a few of the fine film selections:

  • Wings (1927/28)
  • Mighty Joe Young (1949)
  • The War of the Worlds (1953)
  • Ben Hur (1959)
  • 2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
  • Star Wars (1977)
  • Alien (1979)
  • Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)
  • Jurassic Park (1993)
  • Matrix (1999)
  • Avatar (2009)
  • Inception (2010)
  • Interstellar (2014)
  • Mad Max: Fury Road (2015) – Just kidding, but it deserves it. Are you listening, Academy?
