You Can Now Watch Netflix Wherever You Travel (Except China)

Netflix have announced global expansion, as of right now. So if you're planning a trip overseas, you can take your Netflix viewing with you.

The catalogue of content will still be unique to each region, with the exception of Netflix orginal series. We aren't looking at one big global catalogue as yet, although Netflix did say they are working on it.

It is worth noting that although technically against Netflix's terms of service (but not illegal), you can use a VPN to connect to any region's content.

Due to US government restrictions, Syria and North Korea join China on the list of places that won't be binge watching Orange Is The New Black anytime soon.

Netflix is negotiating with China to hopefully launch there sometime in the future.

So does that mean if I'm in the US, I will get Australian content or US content?

It says in the first few lines of the story. The catalogue of content will still be unique to each region, with the exception of Netflix original series.

    You can now?
I am pretty sure since Netflix launched you can watch content relevant to the area you are in when you travel. I know when i went to the UK and opened NF on my tablet i got UK content..

Unless this article is claiming that if i go to the UK i will get Aus content? Its not exactly clear to be honest.

The catalogue of content will still be unique to each region

in the UK with and AUS account you get UK content

So does than mean that since I have a US account, I'll no longer need to use a VPN/DNS service to access that catalogue while home in Australia?

You can access the AUD catalogue in Australia with your US account

Not according to this article it doesn't.

It sounds like they're just making it all official. It wont work any differently to how it does now.

The article is about the fact that Netflix is expanding the number of countries they are available in. There are only 3 countries in the world now that don't have Netflix.

Well, just so long as you have data to use while travelling. Most hotel WiFi's I've used have been too slow to properly browse the internet, let alone stream Netflix!

I tried using Netflix on a greyhound bus a few weeks ago, killed their wifi for a good 30 minutes before it came back up.

    This is true
