Samsung Updates Gear S2 With Rose Gold And Platinum Cases

Samsung’s Gear S2 is a tough, versatile smartwatch, but it’s also notable for having a Classic variant that’s a little more stylish. Come CES 2016, the Gear S2 Classic becomes more stylish again, with a 18k rose gold and a platinum variant heading to Australia later this year.

Based on Tizen, the Gear S2 and Gear S2 Classic are competitors to the Apple Watch and Google’s fleet of Android Wear smartwatches. One of the advantages of Tizen is the ease of app development, and CNN and Bloomberg have created new apps alongside existing software from companies like Uber and eBay. The updated edition of the Gear S2 Classic will include a NFC chip, which Samsung will initially use for Samsung Pay throughout the US.

We know that the new Gear S2 Classic in rose gold and platinum are heading to Australia, although pricing isn’t yet confirmed. Internationally, Samsung will pair the rose gold S2 with an ivory leather band and the platinum with a black leather band, and will start sales in February. A bunch of new bespoke wristbands, too, will make your Gear S2 look more fancy.
