Google Opens VR Division

Google has confirmed a dedicated virtual reality division has been opened within the company. Presumably this isn’t just for Google Cardboard — so what is on the way?

Vice President of Product Management, Clay Bavor, previously looked after Google’s low cost venture into VR, Google Cardboard, as well Google’s apps.

Bavor will now move into leading the new Virtual Reality division as Vice President of Virtual Reality, leaving the apps — Gmail, Drive and Docs among them — to Senior Vice President Diane Greene.

Cardboard has been doing better than previous *cough*glass*cough* VR efforts from Google, with GoPro integration and distribution in schools being key. But this new division does seem to point to Google taking VR a little more seriously in the future.
