Drone Crashes, Hits Baby

Drone Crashes, Hits Baby

The worst nightmare of every helicopter parent has come true: earlier this month, a 6.4-pound drone crashed at a movie premiere in Pasadena, hitting a one-year-old baby in the head.

According to the Pasadena Star News, a DJI Inspire 1 — a $US3000 drone broadly aimed at professionals — crashed at a screening of The Princess Bride at City Hall. Apparently, the operator flew the drone out of visual range, and then something caused an uncontrolled descent onto the head of a lovely innocent child.

Police are not looking into the incident, but another enforcement agency with teeth is: the FAA can slap a fine of up to $US25,000 on operators who fly recklessly, and according to Ars Technica, they’re looking into the incident. Remember kids: drone responsibly.
