This Excellent Music Clip Mixes Claymation With Classic 80s Cinema (NSFW)

This five-minute video, put together by director, writer and clay animator Lee Hardcastle, is the music clip for GUNSHIP’s new synth track “Tech Noir”. Along with being a great tune, it’s the perfect fodder for a nostalgia-filled trip back to the 1980s, particularly the films that ruled the era.

The video’s protagonist is claymation hero that can change his form by plugging different VHS tapes into his chest. One minute, he’s RoboCop, brandishing the metallic law enforcer’s rather impressive handgun, the next he’s taken the form of He-Man, complete with masterful “pageboy” haircut and Power Sword.

It’s a little on the violent side, with frequent explosions of plasticine gore, but otherwise doesn’t feature anything too dodgy.

And yes — as The Awesome happens to note — “Tech Noir” is the name of the bar from the original Terminator film.
