Briefly: And now for a different kind of pirate crackdown.
The ACMA has successfully busted a Victorian man for broadcasting unlicensed transmissions on the 101.3MHz radio band in Victoria this year.
Since being busted in March, he pled guilty to one count of “unlicensed operation” and four counts of owning unlicensed radio gear in contravention of the Radiocommunications Act 1992.
The ACMA has been busting radio pirates for years. The guy below documents his pirate radio set-up back in 2011, and he writes on his YouTube channel that he’d love to start it up again, “but is afraid of the consequences”.
Whether you’re pirating movies or running your own pirate radio station, you’re being targeted by the law in Australia these days.
