There isn’t a child out there who likes being slathered in sunscreen before a day at the beach, but it’s the easiest way to ensure they don’t end up with a terrible sunburn. And to help make that a little easier for them to understand, this pair of dolls also gets a sunburn if not properly protected.
Created by Nivea’s Brazilian ad agency, FCB São Paulo, the dolls were given away to kids on a beach in Rio De Janeiro. When removed from their packaging, the UV-sensitive plastic the toys were made from turned bright pink just moments after being exposed to the sun. However, it returns to its normal colour as soon as sunscreen was applied to block the sun’s rays.
So not only were kids immediately able to see the effects and benefits of sunscreen, they were also given an opportunity to learn how to properly and thoroughly apply it themselves through playing with the dolls. [YouTube via Fast Company]
