The inventor of the first mobile phone thinks that someday we’ll all have tiny computers implanted behind our ears instead of phones. He also thinks apps are terrible.
Motherboard interviewed Marty Cooper, the 89-year-old creator of the Motorola DynaTAC 8000X, which was the first handheld mobile phone — and Cooper made some bold predictions about the future of mobile technology.
Cooper explained his vision of an implantable phone with a powerful artificial intelligence assistant. “Someday you’ll be able to think through it, and that will be the optimum voice telephone,” he said. “It will take a couple of generations before we fulfil the real promise of what a cell phone is.”
