Build Your Own Replica Ferrari From This Official LEGO Kit

Yes, we know you can make pretty much anything from LEGO, with the exception of perpetual motion machines, robots with Asimovian positronic brains and comfortable sandals. A miniature version of Ferrari’s F40 however? Easy as, especially if you grab LEGO’s dedicated kit.

The toy company describes it as a “LEGO Creator Expert replica” and sells it as completely authentic. There’s no remote control, so don’t expect to drive it anywhere, unless it’s under enthusiastic hand power. But it does come with a removable engine, in case it needs a… err, tune-up.

The finished product is made from 1158 pieces and measures 8cm high, 27cm long and 14cm wide, so it should fill up whatever mantle space you have quite nicely. Now for the bad news — it’s not available until August and will retail for $US129.99. Which is quite a bit more than your average LEGO set.

Maybe it’s just me, but I can’t help but think it’s a step backwards from the older, yet rather awesome LEGO 599 GTB Fiorano below:
