Facebook Messenger Now Has ‘Caller ID’ So You Know Who’s Messaging

Briefly: Facebook is today rolling out a new feature for its Messenger app that will tell you who’s trying to get in touch — with a big photo, description of your connection and other public information — the first time they contact you.

Referring to it as “caller ID for messaging,” Facebook’s Vice President of Messaging David Marcus announced the tweak overnight. The feature, which will work on both iOS and Android, should help you work out who that person sending you a message is — providing you with details like their job, school and location.
