The new Zeiss Batis lenses are the first the German manufacturer designed specially for Sony’s awesome full-frame compact cameras. Their defining feature is an OLED display that replaces the old-school depth-of-field scale.
Which is… neat? Finding a new way to communicate lens info is admirable because the old way is a little busted. But a display could just be another electronic component to fail, and an extra (very tiny) drain on your camera battery.
The lenses come in 25mm f/2.0 (wide angle) and 85mm f/1.8 (portrait) for $US1300 and $US1200. Start saving.
