Lumia 640 And 640 XL: More Budget Microsoft Smartphones

Microsoft hasn’t announced a flagship phone at Mobile World Congress this year — but if you need to keep your bank account in the black then the Lumia 640 and 640 XL are here to help.

They aren’t quite the flagship devices some Lumia fans may have been hoping for, but they both stick to Microsoft’s policy of offering respectable hardware on a budget. Both phones come with a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon processor, 1GB of RAM a piece, 8GB of internal storage, microSD expansion, as well a year of Office 365, and 1TB of free OneDrive storage.

The Lumia 640 comes with a 5-inch display, an 8-megapixel camera, and a 2500 mAh battery. The 640 XL is slightly bigger, clocking in at 5.7-inches, and includes a 13-megapixel camera, and a 300 mAh battery.

Both devices will be upgradeable to Windows 10 when it launches later this year, and you will be able to install the Windows 10 preview when both phones are released later this month.

As mentioned before, both phones are firmly in the budget handset range. The 640 will cost around $US140 for the 3G model and $US160 if you want 4G. The 640 XL is slightly more expensive, costing around $US190 for the standard 3G model and $US220 for the 4G model.
