iiNet: Netflix Accounts For 15% Of Our Broadband Traffic Already

Netflix has only been in the Australian market for a week, and already iiNet is reporting a huge surge in network usage thanks to the streaming service.

According to iiNet, 15 per cent of iiNet’s consumer broadband traffic comes from Netflix, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

It’s no surprise that a digital nation starved of streaming services would be hungry to gobble down all the Netflix it could post-launch, but 15 per cent in a week is still a pretty staggering stat.

The iiNet usage stats are on trend with Netflix streaming in the US, with recent results showing that it accounts for 35 per cent of all downstream internet traffic during peak times. [SMH]
