Victorian Adam Tepper, CEO of Bitcoin trading platform Independent Reserve, was killed in a motorcycle accident last week while in Phuket.
According to articles from the Sydney Morning Herald and the ABC, Tepper collided with a trailer while riding a motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet at the time, with the resulting head injuries proving fatal.
Reports state he had nothing in his possession at the time of the accident, delaying his identification by “several days”. The incident occurred last Wednesday; Tepper passed away the next day.
Independent Reserve CTO Adrian Przelozny posted the following update on the company’s website yesterday:
It is with a heavy heart that I write to inform you of the death of Adam Tepper.
Adam died in a motorcycle accident on Thursday.Adam was a passionate advocate for the use of digital currency in Australia. He lived his life to the beat of his own drum and Independent Reserve is a testament to his vision, intelligence and perseverance.He will be sorely missed by his family, friends and the Bitcoin community.
A funeral for Adam will be held in Melbourne, on Friday the 6th of March.
All Independent Reserve functions will continue to operate without disruption.
A second post by Przelozny mentions that Tepper was writing a book on Bitcoin, aimed at the layperson and that the Bitcoin Association of Australia is accepting donations to see the book published.
Tepper was 34 years old.
