Sure, we’re on the cusp of a brand new Galaxy phone being announced at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, but whatever’s announced there probably won’t come out for ages. If you want a thin, cheap Galaxy phone in the next couple of weeks, you’re in luck: the Galaxy A5 and A3 are coming to Australia. Here’s what you’ll pay.
They’re mid-range phones, unlike the excellent-looking Galaxy A7, but that doesn’t mean you’re going to get a clunker for your money. They’re still sleek little gadgets that will get the job done.
The Galaxy A5 is a 4G-capable device that features a 5-inch HD SuperAMOLED display, quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, 5-megapixel front-facing camera and 16GB of memory (expandable up to 64GB). It’s also only 6.7mm thin, which is nice. It crams a 2300mAh battery into that space which is also quite excellent for a phone that size.
Only Vodafone will carry the A5, and it will be available for $599.
Alternatively, if you want something smaller and cheaper you can go for the Galaxy A3. It still features the quad-core 1.2GHz processor, but packs in just 1.5GB of RAM, a 4.5-inch qHD SuperAMOLED display, 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 1900mAh battery inside a 6.9mm chassis.
The A3 will be carried at Telstra, Vodafone and Optus, and comes in at $449.
You’ll be able to pick up either from their respective retailers on 5 March.
Stay tuned for our review of these new devices!
