The Tesla Model S is a pretty amazing car. All you need to do is drive the thing to realise Elon Musk and his company are onto something special. Australian mining billionaire-turned-politician Clive Palmer test drove a shiny new Model S and now wants one to add to his multi-million dollar collection.

The eccentric politician said he’d never use a taxpayer funded car to rock up in Parliament when he was elected, and has kept his word by arriving in all manner of excellent cars. Everything from a Rolls Royce through to a gullwinged Mercedes AMG SLS.
This morning he bucked the trend of petrol-powered supercars and rocked up in a Model S he was borrowing from a lucky owner. Since his test drive, he’s pledged to buy one for himself, adding that we could probably manufacture them in Australia.
Palmer has a $20 million collection of cars in his Queensland resort, all of which are awesome.
