Chris Hadfield Explains His View Of Earth From Space

Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield made his name doing space-bound covers of David Bowie, but ever since returning to Earth, he’s been doing a stellar job of making us all jealous about his tenure in the ISS.

In this interview with science video channel Veritaserum, Hadfield describes his first spacewalk, which took place during the Southern Lights, providing a ghostly green illumination for Hadfield’s trip outside. But he also takes the chance to point out some of the bad things you can see from space — like the dramatic shrinking of the Aral Sea, or the pollution of major cities, which is visible from orbit.
