Montblanc’s New e-Strap Makes Luxury Watches (a Little) Smarter

Smartwatches may be increasingly popular, but they lack still lack the gravitas of high-end time pieces. Which is why Montblanc is trying to inject a little smart into its own luxury watches.

A Blog to Watch reports that the watchmaker has unveiled a new e-Strap that will feature on its Timewalker Urban Speed Collection. It’s a simple little panel that sits on the underside of your wrist. With a 0.9-inch monochromatic OLED touchscreen, it allows you to track notifications, control music trigger your camera remotely… the kind of simple tasks that smartwatches usually help out with. It pairs with both iOS and Android via Bluetooth, and there’s a companion app to take charge of settings. The battery lasts five days on a charge.

There’s no world on availability but it will be available as a feature on watches that range from$3,000 to $US5,500. The smart module itself will cost you an extra $US300. [A Blog to Watch via TechCrunch via Engadget]
