I'll Be Back: The First Trailer For Terminator Genisys Is Here

Paramount Pictures just released the first full trailer for the still awkwardly named Terminator Genisys, and it's got all the explosions, time-travelling, robots and Arnold Schwarzenegger action you could ask for.

There's actually quite a lot going on in this two-and-a-half minute spot. First off, we've either seriously messed with time or we're in another universe, because we have an old gun-toting T-800 with the visage of one former California governor and an ass-kicking Sarah Connor (Emilia Clarke), who really seems to be the one doing all the saving. There's also a T-1000!

Terminator Genisys definitely feels like a reboot, and plays with a lot of the iconic characters from The Terminator and T2: Judgment Day. Take for instance, Schwarzenegger whipping out a pump-action and icing his naked nemesis from James Cameron's original.

I need Doc Brown and a chalkboard in order to keep all of these time travel shenanigans in line, but whatever may be the case, Arnold Schwarzenegger is the Terminator once again. Get excited.

Looks good; very Michael Bay... But gawd, how many times can they reuse "Come with me if you want to live" and "I'll be back"?

The words "looks good" and "very Michael Bay" should never be put together.

Arnie is looking a bit dented

He looks good for someone pushing 70

I wonder if they get 10 cents back on all these recycled robots ?

I'm not sure how a pump action shotgun is supposed to kill a terminator...

Well we have seen him firing at it...but nothing else, like they're going to show that in the trailer!

Deer slugs to the head/neck could do enough damage to incapacitate it. At least for long enough to disassemble it.

I have loved each and every one of the Terminator movies and even the series. This looks fantastic too. Can't wait.

A release date might have been nice for us fan boys too. Just sayin'.....

if it helps it will probably be a Thursday...

There was some "WOAH!" moments, and quite a few cringers as well. I just can't decide on this.

Lee Byung-hun (T-1000) looks a lot like Robert Patrick from Terminator 2. If that was intentional, then bravo.

Glad to see so many Aussies in it. Jason Clarke is killin it!

I'm so confused, but stupidly excited. I guess if a Terminator doesn't die, then it is flesh and blood over the exoskeleton, so it ages?

Seiously though, has anyone ever tried holding a dude over a drop with one arm. It is a lot harder than they make out.

So much uncanny valley with Arny

I'm liking the "remake" type footage set in 1984 (really like the attention to detail), but I'm still not sold over all. There's a few eye-rollers in just this trailer alone. Still, I'm prepared to go in with an open mind. It's a given that it won't stand up to T1 or T2, but if it can be better than T3 and Salvation, then I won't feel cheated.

Just looks like a mashup of the first two movies, suggesting they're out of ideas. Given they have the whole Terminator universe to play with, that seems a bit of a waste.

Well it certainly looks like the best Terminator movie since T2, though it's not like the last two were hard to beat.

I'm Terminator fan.. but.. Geez what's with the obsession of making vehicles flip head first when blown up? a bus? seriously? I think this movie will flop.. if they have to use the same cliches over and over... and over use of CG. :(

I am confused also, the scenes with the "human guy" running through the alley way from the cop, and through the department store. Looks just like the scenes from the first movie with Kyle Reece. But then he is chased by the T1000, which doesn't appear until T2: Judgment Day?

That's because it is Kyle Reece and that's the same scene as from the first movie. Although obviously something's changed in the timeline that mixes the events from the first and second movies.

Because something changed the timeline - a Terminator was sent back to protect Sarah Conner (probably some time AFTER Kyle Reese was sent) but somehow got there BEFORE Kyle Reese.

love it love it love it love it love it love it love it love it love it!
looks sweet, blow shit up WEEEEE HOOOO.
    cant wait

What, no big hair? And where are all the overcoats and weird sunglasses? Oh, and does Sarah Conner have banana shaped boobs in this timeline?

Did we see the same trailer? Are you all born after y2k?
    Looks atrocious with terrible music
Only James Cameron can revive terminator, let it go, it's like necrophilia now

Cameron is too busy making the next three installments of "The Valley of the Blue Thundercats".
