Of Course Hollywood Is Making A Playmobil Movie Now

As they say in Hollywood, “if at first you do succeed, try and try again with the exact same premise.” So hot on the heels of the incredibly successful Lego movie, Paris-based ON Entertainment has revealed it will produce an $US80 million animated featured based on the Playmobil toy line.

The movie is expected to be released sometime in 2017, with the studio teaming up with production companies Wild Bunch and Pathe, as well as some of the creative folk behind such animated films as Shrek 2, Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda, and an upcoming adaptation of The Little Prince. There’s no word on what the storyline will entail just yet, but like Lego, the Playmobil line spans countless themes, so there’s plenty of material to work with. [Variety via I Watch Stuff]
