The New Big Hero 6 Trailer Reveals Even More Arse-Kicking Animation

I could not be more excited for the first Disney-Marvel mashup Big Hero 6, coming to theatres in the next few weeks. In a new trailer released today at NYC’s Comic-Con, we get to see more of the action, backdropped by epic San Fransokyo views and superhero suits that were inspired by visits to real-life robotics labs.

This trailer gives a glimpse of 14-year-old Hiro Himada’s dominance in the city’s underground battlebot scene and the first peek at how the film’s stars transform themselves into superheroes by designing and 3D printing their own special powers. There’s also plenty of footage of the swarming microbot army, one of many tech details in the film that were directly inspired from actual products being developed by scientists at Carnegie Mellon, MIT, Harvard, and more.

We also get to see lots more of the San Francisco-Tokyo mashup city which was digitally built using actual civic data. Of particular note is San Francisco’s Ferry Building (above) rebranded with its “Port of San Fransokyo” signage.

If you look carefully, you’ll also see some of the 750,000 San Fransokyo residents that were created with Disney’s new character rigging program, Denizen. [Big Hero 6]
