Play Counts Are Coming To Facebook Videos This Week

Facebook is adding two new features to be more like Youtube. Starting this week, the social network will start displaying video view counts, so you can instantly tell how popular a certain clip is. You will also be presented with a list of related videos, just like YouTube, once you finish watching something.

Facebook announced that it now serves up more than one billion videos a day, with 65 per cent of those being watched on mobile devices. To put that in context: YouTube averaged four billion views a day back in 2012, according to TechCrunch. Video views on the Facebook also grew by more than 50 per cent between May and July this year, thanks in no small part to the Ice Bucket Challenge. [The Next Web]
