Horse is better known for its bicycles than anything else because, well, it’s a bicycle company. But proving that actually it’s just a master with all things steel is this beautiful camping knife.
Designed and handmade by Horse’s Thomas Callahan of Horse Cycles, this knife is inspired by traditional, utilitarian outdoor knives of Scandinavia. You only have to look at its sturdy blade, simple construction and brick-red handle to realise that.
Being individually hand-ground and put together, each knife is unique — with subtle differences in the blade and quirks in the Horse logo stamped upon it. But that’s part of the fun. There’s also a matching leather sheath, built by friend and neighbour of Horse Will Lisak of ETWAS bags.
As you’d expect, this kind of craftsmanship comes at a price. The knife alone will cost you $US155, or $US185 with the sheath. But, hey, that’s cheaper than a bicycle. [Horse via Cool Hunting]
