If you’re willing do the research, you can get great lenses for your Canon shooter from the likes of Tamron and Sigma. Even so, nothing quite beats the high-quality EF range from the company itself. So, if you’re in the market for a genuine, 1200mm Canon lens, you can grab one right now for a cool $177,278 Australian. We’ll wait while you sell the required number of organs to raise funds.
UK-based camera equipment retailer MPB Photographic recently got its hands on a used — and extremely rare — Canon EF 1200mm f/5.6 L USM. Available for just £99,000 (and free worldwide delivery!), it’s in “virtually immaculate condition” and comes with leather front and rear lens caps, a Gelatin II filter and flight case.
If you’re planning on picking it up, the price actually includes VAT of 20 per cent, so for Australians it’s only £82,500, or $147,731. Hard to say no to $30,000 off — you could buy yourself a decent car with the spare dollars.
The hard decision is what to do with it once you have it — whack it on your camera and take some mad photos, put it on the mantle so people can admire it, or place it lens-down and pretend it’s a model space ship from NASA.
