iPhone 5S and Galaxy S5 owners who bank with Westpac or St George will shortly be able to access their accounts using their fingerprints.
ITNews reports that the rollout of TouchID banking for the St George mobile app will commence next month, with Galaxy S5 capability to come within the coming months. It’s expected that the functionality will roll out to parent bank Westpac and its other subsidiaries shortly.
Addressing security concerns around fingerprint recognition, St George CIO Dhiren Kulkarni told ITNews that
“We’re very confident in the security, and with the best internet security team in Australia, we stand by our commitment to make mobile banking safe while also simple and easy to use.”
