First, there was only LG and Samsung. Now, Sony has joined the growing curved 4K TV fray. With the Bravia S90, Sony showcases its take on the future of the living room, and it’s definitely a future I want to be part of.
Available in the totally reasonable sizes of 65 and 75 inches, the S90 also has the requisite contouring that Sony pioneered back in the good ole LED days. Sony describes the S90’s build as a “precisely-calculated curve”, and HDTVTest confirms that the set has less “aggressive” curving methods than Samsung and provides better views at closer distances. The set comes equipped with the company’s proprietary Triluminos display and its 4k X-Reality PRO technology that upscales TV broadcasts and Blu-ray, according to the press release, so you know — you can actually enjoy all those pixels.
A few more spec details include 4.2 channel multi-angle live speaker system, one-touch mirroring, Skype camera, a wireless subwoofer, and 3D capability (glasses required).
As for price?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
But we’d expect something around $US5000 (for the 65-inch) based on Samsung’s set, which retails at $US6000 but now sells for $US4300. We’ll most likely hear more about this fancy curved TV and other upcoming Sony stuff in September at IFA 2014 in Berlin. [Engadget]
