Samsung Gear S: Finally(?) A Smartwatch That Can Make Phone Calls

Yes, the rumours are true: Samsung just announced a smartwatch with a data connection. The Samsung Gear S can make phone calls. Because why the hell not?

The Tizen powered device offers a Dual core 1.0 GHz processor, a 2.0-inch 360 x 480 Super AMOLED display, 512MB RAM, 4GB onboard storage, a (measly) 300mAh battery and yes, Wi-Fi, 2G, and 3G data connections. The Gear S also includes a suite of sensors including a heart rate monitor and GPS. It’s also got a pair of Bluetooth headphones — the Gear Circle — that will let you issue voice commands and make calls from your watch without looking like Dick Tracy and are presumably sold separately.

Both products will be released this October, with price announced then.
