Dyson Wants You To Know How Dirty Your Mattress Is

Your bed is filthy. Your floor is filthy, too, but it’s your mattress that’s the big problem. Did you know that you’re meant to vacuum your mattress regularly? I didn’t. Dyson is (probably) the only appliance manufacturer in Europe with its own microbiology lab, and it has a pop-up in Sydney’s Circular Quay to show you the nasties lurking in your house.

The #onlydyson pop-up shows off all of Dyson’s cool technology — the new and redesigned AM06 desk fan, the DC59 digital slim vac, the hardcore DC54 Cinetic — but just as interesting is a little microscope, displaying all the gross bugs hiding in your mattress.

The pop-up is outside the Museum of Contemporary Art in Circular Quay, and it has some pretty cool stuff on show, including a demonstration of two DC59 vacuums being picked up and slammed against the floor — the kind of real-world punishment that these cordless vacs are designed to withstand — and a bunch of videos showing some disgusting bugs.

The little booth will be open today and tomorrow until 6PM. Plus, if you head along and learn a little about bugs and allergens, you’ll have a chance to enter a draw to win a $999 DC54 Animal vacuum. [Dyson]
