The Ad For Sydney’s Contactless Public Transport Card Is The Weirdest Thing You’ll Watch Today

New South Wales has been trying to get its head around the whole contactless travel card thing for a while now, and with the new Opal system, it looks like it’s on to a winner. What I’m still trying to wrap my head around is the first ad for the Opal card. Brace yourselves.

It tells the story of a woman who fell in love with her Opal Card and how easy it was to use on trains, buses and ferries in the nation’s largest city.

It tries to get the message across by having the woman enter into a relationship with a spandex-clad guy with a massive Opal card around his head. They even have little Opal children together.

This ad needs a disclaimer that the Opal card doesn’t cause dangerous hallucinations… [The Opal User]
