This man is living the dream of starring in his own real-world video game, using a complex camera rig and an Oculus Rift headset to view his own life from the popular behind-and-up-a-bit third-person perspective. He is also, presumably, very confused.
The project uses a pair of GoPro cameras, fixing them to a 3D-printed mount on a frame affixed to a backpack and feeding the live video back to the wearer. This creates an instant alternative viewpoint to life, complete with joystick input to control the cameras should they get stuck on the scenery. Watch yourself sitting there; watch yourself getting older; perhaps even see yourself die.
You might feel a few small twinges of embarrassment, but apparently it’s the future so you’d better get used to seeing enthusiasts wearing increasingly convoluted pieces of technology in public. Also, we suspect this might be quite hard to replicate using cardboard. [3DPrint via TechCrunch]
