Nokia Lumia 930 Gets Australian Price, Release Date

We’ve seen giant phablets and entry-level Android crossovers from Nokia in the last few months, but we haven’t had a decent Windows Phone flagship device in what feels like forever. Enter the Nokia Lumia 930: the latest colourful addition to the line-up, and now it has an Australian price and release date.

The Lumia 930 has a 1080p 5-inch screen. It looks like a Lumia in the more recent tradition with hard-edged sides and a slightly-rounded colourful back. Under-the-hood, it’s got 2.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 32GB of internal storage, and 2GB of RAM. It sports a familiar 20 megapixel PureView camera, powered by Nokia’s excellent suite of photography apps.

The Nokia Lumia 930 will cost $729 and be released to all major carriers — Telstra, Optus and Vodafone. You’ll also be able to buy it outright from Dick Smith, JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and AllPhones. Nokia won’t confirm a final day for release, but knows it’s coming some time in July. An official media release event has been scheduled for next Tuesday, so expect to see stock in stores after that.

Nokia Lumia 635

Microsoft also priced the entry-level Nokia Lumia 635 for Australia, too.

The Lumia 635 has a 4.5-inch screen, a quad-core 1.2GHz processor, 8GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB with microSD storage) and 512MB of RAM. You’re also given Nokia’s 5-megapixel camera, but to cut down on costs you’ll miss out on a flash and a front-facing camera.

The cost cutting yields benefits, however, with the cut-price Lumia 635 entering the market at $279 outright or available on yet-to-be announced plans from Telstra and Optus some time in July.
