Foxtel’s Movie Streaming Service Lands On Chromecast

Foxtel is doing everything it can to make Presto, its movie streaming service, as attractive as possible. From today, it’s taking a big leap forward with the announcement that you can now beam your Foxtel flicks onto your big screen via the Google Chromecast dongle.

Foxtel’s Presto service is a stand-alone proposition that gives you access to seven different movie channels and other on-demand titles inside a single app, and without a traditional Foxtel set-top box subscription.

Foxtel Presto Review: Like Netflix, But Actually Meant For Australia

Previously, you’d only been able to watch the flicks on your tablet, but that’s changing from today: Foxtel has hashed it out so that anyone can stream Presto movies from their iOS or Android apps to their TV via Google’s Chromecast dongle.

All the major studio titles will work with Chromecast now, so your favourite titles won’t be left out.

The studios currently signed on for Foxtel’s movie service include MGM, NBCUniversal, Paramount Pictures, Roadshow Films, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Twentieth Century Fox, The Walt Disney Company, Warner Bros. Entertainment, Hopscotch Entertainment One, ICON, Studiocanal and Transmission Films.

Foxtel is pretty excited about the news, and as a result is offering a one month free trial of Presto to anyone who picks up a Chromecast from today. Those who already have their Chromecast’s needn’t miss out, however: Foxtel is making it available to everyone who bought a streaming dongle from 28 May (the launch date in Australia) onwards.

Is Chromecast streaming enough to bring you around to Foxtel’s Presto service?
