If you had to pinpoint one single reason the internet became such an integral part of our day-to-day lives, the obvious answer would be animated GIFs. They’re what make staring at a screen all day long completely worth your morning commute. But now, a couple of artists have finally found a way to put animated GIFs anywhere you’d usually expect to see graffiti.
Who wants to stare at a boring static piece of Banksy street art when you can instead stare in awe at a perfectly looped animated GIF? No one — except maybe Banksy’s mum. But even she would find it hard to tear her eyes away from the work of artists Guus ter Beek and Tayfun Sarier, who mount simple framed LCDs that play endless loops of random animated GIFs all over London, from the looks of it.
Suddenly, waiting for a bus or walking to work is a little more tolerable, and when you’re out on the street you’re free to stare instead of having to peek out from behind a spreadsheet to enjoy a GIF. [Creative Bloq via Taxi]
