Ah, to see the world through greyscale-coloured lenses. Photographer David Friedman took these charming pixelated pics of New York way back in the year 2000… ON A GAME BOY. They’re not only a technological time capsule, but an urban one.

The Game Boy Camera was a short-lived accessory for the Game Boy — it was released in the late 1990s, and once the Guinness Record Holder for smallest digital camera. Think of all the snaps from this old-timey handheld tech that were eventually lost to the ages! Total bummer. Luckily, Friedman’s have been preserved. *cue Tetris theme*
