Foxtel Go Now Works On The Google Nexus 5

If you’re a Foxtel subscriber, but don’t have an iPhone or Samsung gadget, there’s a light on the horizon. The first non-Samsung, non-Apple phone to receive access to Foxtel Go is the Google Nexus 5; hopefully this means more open Android access is imminent.

Props to Ausdroid for the scoop; they discovered that Foxtel has just opened up Go to the Nexus 5 as of yesterday. The Google Play Store has hosted the Foxtel Go app for a few months now, but until recently access was still restricted to Samsung devices. That remains largely the case, but it’s great to see another brand getting a look-in, especially when it’s the excellent Nexus 5.

It’s even more exciting when you consider that there are plenty of devices that are functionally very similar to the Nexus 5 — the Nexus 7 is nearly identical, and it’s a short jump from any Nexus device to a Google Play Edition handset. Then, from there, the entire world of Android is your oyster. Now all we need is for someone to tell the guys at Foxtel that. [Ausdroid]
