If there are any IKEA engineers reading this post, please take note. Your system of using hex bolts and Allen keys to assemble your flat-pack furniture is OK, but things would be a heck of a lot easier for everyone if all of your pieces were held together with giant wine corks. Clearly designer Hyeonil Jeong is onto something here.
Cork is much lighter than metal nuts, bolts and other connectors, which means that a table in a box wouldn’t feel like you’re carrying a small truck back to your apartment. It’s win-win — at least until you try to sit on a couch held together with corks, or lay on a cork-secured bed. Well, at least the idea is a win for coffee tables. [Hyeonil Jeong via Dornob]
