File this one under “N” for “nooooooope“: a guy swimming in the Carribean armed with a spear and a GoPro found himself on the wrong end of a reef shark. Cue a traumatic ordeal where the diver attempts to swim away while defending himself from the shark, all captured in glorious 720p.
The diver was reportedly trying to clear the reef of lionfish due to their destructive habits on the reef when he found himself on the wrong end of the Carribean Reef Shark.
It rammed him first while he was attempting to extract the lionfish he’d just speared. The diver quickly swims towards the surface as the shark whips around for another attack.
The ascent to the surface must have felt like it took forever when the shark continued to whip around and try to attack. All the diver could do was poke his spear in the direction of the shark to try and fight it off.
Gawker reports that the man will go diving on the reef again despite the attack:
The shark was acting in his natural environment. I have no ill will toward him and will get back in the water and continue to protect the reef for future generations.
Just watching the video is stressful…
