A Colouring Book That Puts Kid-Designed Fashions On A Virtual Catwalk

A Colouring Book That Puts Kid-Designed Fashions On A Virtual Catwalk

Right Said Fred knew the appeal of the catwalk, and now kids can get in on the glitz and glamor with this new colouring book from Crayola that lets them design custom clothes and then see their creations virtually modelled. And it goes without saying that an iOS tablet or smartphone is required, but not included.

The My Virtual Fashion Show’s secret sauce is the special corner markers located on every page of the colouring book that let an accompanying app snap a picture and then extract the designs to be textured onto a 3D model. Presumably staying inside the lines isn’t vitally important here; the app will hopefully automatically crop out what’s not needed.

The twenty-page book lets kids create up to ten different designs, since you need to colour in both the front and back of any outfit — which makes it a little limited for $US45. But you can probably just scan or photocopy the blank book first, and then create endless designs without having to buy a refill. [Crayola via 7Gadgets]
