Jodorowsky’s Dune: The Amazing, Unrealised Film Of Frank Herbert’s Classic Novel

David Lynch’s interpretation of Frank Herbert’s Dune was far from the greatest science fiction movie ever developed. An opportunity missed, really. What makes it even sadder is that director Alejandro Jodorowsky headed an earlier attempt to transplant the novel’s words to the silver screen and boy, you won’t believe what (and who) was going to be in that unproduced epic.

This trailer is for an upcoming documentary entitled “Jodorowsky’s Dune”, which aims to deliver a taste of the Dune envisioned by the somewhat eccentric filmmaker.

Here’s a comparison: David Lynch gave us Sting. Jodorowsky had Mick Jagger, David Carradine and Orson Welles on-board. I know which one I’d have preferred.

Probably the only unsettling aspect is that Jodorowsky admits he never read the novel, which you’d imagine would make it harder to create a movie based on it. That said, going by the storyboards and concepts shown in the trailer, he seemed to have a good handle on things.
