Pharrell’s New Daft Punk Collab Is Super Smooth: Listen To The Full Track

Pharrell’s second solo album G I R L is out in a few days, after only being announced in the middle of this month. The album’s lead single is, of course, “Happy”, but to be honest we’re enjoying the smooth grooves of another track a lot more.

The new album features guest spots from Miley Cyrus, Alicia Keys and Justin Timberlake, but it’s “Gust of Wind” that we’re really liking. The track is produced by Daft Punk , and the same influences that made Get Lucky a worldwide hit are back.

Update: Sorry SoundCloud fans, looks like you’ll need to head over to iTunes for an exclusive preview of the track in its entirety. Gust of Wind’ includes synth notes, Daft Punk helmet-vocoder, and Chic-esque electric guitar. It’s a slow burn, and also reminds us of Daft Punk’s “Giorgio by Moroder” — except with a little more Pharrell and a little less Tron.

G I R L is out on March 3, and is available for preview streaming and preordering through iTunes — it’s getting positive reviews so far. If we were forced to pick our favourite tracks, “Hunter”, “Happy” and “Gust of Wind” would have to be the top three. Speaking of March 3 — that’s when the eBay auction for Pharrell’s fancy hat ends.
