How To Install Facebook Paper On Your iPhone In Australia

Facebook Paper is great. Facebook Paper is beautiful. Facebook Paper is not available in Australia. Here’s how to change that and install it on your iPhone right now.

Quick note before we get started: Paper is only available for iOS devices right now, specifically the iPhone. It won’t run on Android for some time, so just chill.

Presumably if you’re using an iPhone in Australia, you have a local iTunes account. Sucks to be you in that case, because you’ll have to go through the process of tricking your phone that you live in the good, old US of A. There are a few ways to do this.

The easiest way is to jump into your Apple ID settings and change the country.

Open up your iTunes App Store and hit the Featured tab. Scroll all the way to the bottom and click on the email address associated with your Apple ID. It should be above the T&Cs button. It will bring up a dialog box with a few options. Click “View My Apple ID”. From there, all you need to do from there is click on the Australian flag next to your store choice, and change it to the US. From there, you download Paper and change back to the Australian store.

That’s the simplest option. The problem arises when you either have outstanding credit on your Australian account (Apple will make you spend it all before you move), or have an active iTunes Match subscription (don’t mess with that, it gets complicated). That’s when you need to consider our other two options.

You can either repeat the method above in iTunes on your computer and then transfer the app onto the device from there, or you can sign up for a US iTunes account which we’ve talked about before.

Eventually, you’ll be Paper-ing with the rest of us!
