D-Link’s Nightvision Baby Cam Can Play Lullabies For Restless Kids

When you can’t be there in person to help soothe a restless toddler, or you’re just trying to teach them to sleep through the night, D-Link’s new will let you keep an eye on little ones when you’re away or don’t want to intervene.

The camera transmits 720P video signals over your home’s Wi-Fi network, which allows you to access the feed from anywhere on earth using the mydlink Baby Mobile app on your smartphone. But if your home’s lacking a wireless network, D-Link’s Baby Camera can work as a standalone hotspot letting you connect a mobile device directly to it.

Infrared LEDs automatically come on when the room gets too dark, letting you monitor a crib from up to five metres away, and a temperature sensor can automatically send notifications to your phone when a nursery gets too hot or too cold. The Baby Camera also has built-in sound and motion detectors and will send you an alert when a child has become active after a nap, or you can use it to trigger a recording that’s saved locally to a microSD card.

Of course, if you’re not actually there to satiate a crying baby there’s not much you can do to get it back to sleep. So the D-Link Baby Camera even includes five pre-recorded lullabies you can remotely trigger that should at least serve as a temporary distraction. It will be available for about $180 starting in January, which gives you plenty of time to give your nanny notice. [D-Link]
