How All Of Reddit’s Communities Overlap, Visualised

Reddit may the front page of the internet, but it’s also home to all manner of weird and wonderful niche interest groups. This visualisation reveals how they all relate to each other.

Created by Randal Olson from Michigan State University, redditviz is an interactive visualisation of how all of Reddit’s communities — and there are over 5,000 of the things, usually referred to as subreddits — interact and overlap. You can go explore the full thing over on GitHub.

It’s debatable how useful it is, but two things are worth pointing out. First, it’s very pretty. Second, that clump of outliers in the top right? That’s centered around My Little Pony. Seriously. [redditviz via Flowing Data]
