Largest True-Colour Photo Of The Sky Ever Took 60,000 Miles Of Travel

SkyGuide creator Nick Risinger had to travel more than 96,500km by aeroplane and car to collect 37,000 individual photos to create this single image, the largest true-colour image of the entire sky ever made: 100,000 by 50,000 pixels.

He is using this image in the new version of SkyGuide, which will be released for iPad and iPhone on 19 December. It looks like an incredible app, with beautiful rendering of the sky and its objects. Check out this video preview:
