Oil and water don’t mix. It’s an idiom that feels as old as time. But photographer Alberto Seveso found a way to get oil and ink to play nice, and the results are stunning.

Seveso is no stranger to shooting awesome pictures of liquids, but his newest project Dropping brings an awesome flair to the practice. Instead of dropping ink in water (with or without a minifig), this time he’s dropping ink in oil, and snapping the scene with a high-speed camera while the mixture forms droplets that look like they’re defying gravity.

Clean-up must have been a bit of a drag, but more than worth it. You can check out more of Seveso’s work over at his website. [Alberto Seveso via Colossal]
