Rumour: Microsoft’s Smaller Surface Will Likely Have A 7.5-Inch Screen

Rumours have been swirling about a smaller Microsoft Surface to complement the new Surface 2. The latest suggestion is that the device would likely have a 7.5-inch screen.

Reports from CNET and The Verge both suggest that a smaller Surface will ship with a 4:3, 7.5-inch display. It’s an unusual display size, but then the current large Surface also has a quirky panel, which measures 10.6 inches.

When Microsoft updated its developer tools for Windows 8.1 earlier this year it included references to 7.5-inch tablets running at 1440×1080 resolution with a 4:3 aspect ratio. If — and it’s quite an if — the smaller tablet exists, it seems likely that 7.5 could be the magic number. [ CNET , The Verge]
