Google’s 15th Anniversary Easter Egg Lets You Search Like It’s 1998

Google’s 15th Anniversary Easter Egg Lets You Search Like It’s 1998

Here’s a fun Friday afternoon activity: Go to Google and search “Google in 1998”. You’ll be surprised by what the search engine returns. Or at least by the way the page looks.

This is all part of Google’s 15-year anniversary celebration. Unlocking the Easter egg shows you what the site would’ve looked like a decade and a half ago, and the old design doesn’t just show you the search results. You also get a set of links to try the same search on such historic search engines as Alta Vista, Lycos, HotBot and InfoSeek. Then again, no one likes a gloater. [LAT]
