I was rubbish at woodwork in school, so seeing someone do it properly is something I have huge respect for. Seeing a beautiful chair come together with no human intervention thanks to the miracle of stop-motion, however, is something else entirely.
This brilliant stop-motion clip was created around the manufacturing process of a beautiful wooden lawn chair.
From the wood being cut up into appropriate sized panels, right down to the lathe process on the arms: this video covers it all and does it so well.
Normally with stop-motion clips it’s easy to see where the person has taken a shot, moved the image and taken another without thinking about the continuity. With this, it’s seamless, and the camera angles are incredible.
Let’s just say you have to be really confident that you’re going to get your shot when you’re three inches away from a band saw cutting wood.
